To assign a conditional expression to a rent arrears policy

Parent Previous Next

The procedure to assign a conditional expression to a rent arrears policy is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > Rents > Configuration > Arrears Policy. The Arrears Policy window is displayed.
  2. Select a rent arrears policy from the alphabetical list or type its name into the Search Arrears Policy field. By default the list is filtered to show Current arrears policies. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations 1.
  3. Click on Conditions. The Conditions tab is activated.
  4. Select an existing node as the branch for the new expression 2.
  5. Click on New Yes Expression or New No Expression, as required. The Expression window is displayed.
  6. Enter the Expression Name into the field provided i.e. a meaningful caption that will be displayed in the workflow.
  7. Click on Statement builder 3. The Statement Builder window is displayed, ready to compile one or more conditions to control the outcome of the expression. This requisite step is covered separately in the topic Understanding the advanced statement builder.
  8. Click on Confirm 4. The statement algorithm is displayed in the Expression field.
  9. Enter an Expression Description into the field provided i.e. detailing the objective of the expression 1.
  10. Click on Confirm 5. The new expression node appears in the graphical view, prefixed with the expression type i.e. Y or N.
  11. Click on Save.

Tip

1 Taking the time to record comprehensive information about the expression will reap its own rewards.

Note

1 The Search Arrears Policy field will match against any element of the policy name.

2 For a newly-created arrears policy, the default node is entitled Policy Start.

3 More complex expressions can be captured within a SQL stored procedure and linked to the policy using the Advanced field. Where a stored procedure has been linked to the policy condition, an expression statement cannot also be employed, and vice versa.

4 To remove an existing condition statement, select the corresponding row in the Conditions summary table and click on Remove.

5 System validation rules verify the integrity of the expression prior to adding the record.
