To preview a question form under construction

Parent Previous Next

The opportunity to preview a question form template at any stage of the creation process enables the end user to verify that its intended appearance, use of captions and tool tips, data field types, etc. are all correct and match the desired output. At the point of preview, the system compiles all components of the form in their current state of progression, allowing all questions to be completed in finalised mode, thus mirroring the experience of an intended recipient.

The procedure to preview a question form under construction is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > System > Configuration > Form Template. The Form Template window is displayed.
  2. Expand a category heading from the alphabetical list and select an associated question form template, or type its name into the Search Templates field. By default the list is filtered to show Current question form templates. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations 1.
  3. Click on Preview. The Preview tab is activated, revealing the compiled form with all current elements available for selection and data entry.
  4. Select the desired page to be completed within the question form using the drop-down field. All associated section headings are displayed 2.
  5. Complete all questions within each section, as required, to verify the intended behaviour; any errors, omissions or text changes can be documented and applied to the question form template, library question or group, at a later stage. Click on New to create test entry records within the corresponding section 3.
  6. Repeat steps 4 through 5 to complete the remaining pages within the question form template.
  7. Click on Save 4.

Note

1 The Search Templates field will match against any element of the question form template name.

2 Navigation between pages is permitted in any order.

3 The precise behaviour of this option will depend on the data being captured, whether that be to select an applicant record, search for a relevant address or populate responses to user-defined questions. To remove an existing entry, highlight the data row in the corresponding section and click on Remove.

4 This stores all sample data entered against each question for the single purpose of validating the integrity and behaviour of the form; it will not be included in the finalised form, once compiled. The end user can complete and save different section or sub-section responses over any period of time, at their discretion, until they are satisfied with the result.
