The procedure to link an asset to a hierarchy is as follows:
- Navigate to Quick Menu > Assets > Configuration > Asset Hierarchies. The Asset Hierarchy Details window is displayed.
- Select an asset hierarchy from the alphabetical list or type its name into the Search Asset Hierarchy field. By default the list is filtered to show Current asset hierarchies. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations
1.
- Click on View. The View tab is activated.
- Click on Select Asset To Add. The Search Address window is displayed.
- Enter sufficient address details into the search fields provided and click on Search. The Search Address window is displayed, returning all possible matches.
- Double-click on the row containing the exact record match or use Refine Search to enter alternative criteria. The Select New Asset window is displayed.
- Using the Parent Asset drop-down field, select the top level asset to link through to the inserted record
2.
- Choose an Effective from date for this record i.e. the date on which the hierarchy came into effect
3.
- Choose an Effective to date if the asset inclusion needs to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the asset link is continually valid.
- Click on Save. The inserted asset is displayed in its relative position within the hierarchy.
Note
1 The Search Asset Hierarchy field will match against any element of the hierarchy name.
2 All asset records inserted into a hierarchy must be linked to a parent record; only asset records already linked to the hierarchy will be available for selection.
3 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.
