The procedure to create a new asset hierarchy is as follows:
- Navigate to Quick Menu > Assets > Configuration > Asset Hierarchies. The Asset Hierarchy Details window is displayed.
- Click on New Hierarchy. The Search Address window is displayed
1.
- Enter sufficient address details into the search fields provided and click on Search. The Search Address window is displayed, returning all possible matches.
- Double-click on the row containing the exact record match or use Refine Search to enter alternative criteria. The address appears in the Root asset field i.e. the top level asset in the new hierarchy.
- Enter the Hierarchy name into the field provided
1.
- Using the Company drop-down field, select the company to which this new hierarchy relates.
- Choose an Effective from date for this record i.e. the date on which the hierarchy came into effect
2.
- Choose an Effective to date if the hierarchy needs to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the hierarchy is continually valid.
- Click on Save. The new hierarchy is displayed in the alphabetical list.
Tip
1 To aid in identification purposes, it is good practice to devise and uphold a consistent naming convention for all hierarchy names.
Note
1 A hierarchy must be linked to an asset positioned at the top level of the hierarchical structure, known as the Root asset; all subsequent asset records within the same hierarchy will link through to the root asset, either directly or via other parent records.
2 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.
