To define a system preference value

Parent Previous Next

A system preference is most accurately defined as a field with three possible data types: a single value entry (integer or text), a prescribed lookup parameter or a Boolean (True or False) representation. These values are set by the end user to configure functionality and workflow behaviour within Civica Cx Housing to meet their specific needs. Available via the Quick Menu, all system preferences are maintained using data entry screens that are consistent both in terms of appearance and operation. Invariably, a subset of preferences will deliver consolidated changes to a specific module or functional area, operating in tandem to deliver the desired outcome. Whilst these inter-related attributes are most commonly defined as part of the initial system implementation, the opportunity to apply necessary adjustments at a future point in time is permitted, as internal working practices are reviewed and refined.

The procedure to define a system preference value is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > System > Configuration > System Parameters. The System Parameter Details window is displayed, revealing a list of all system-wide configuration options in the summary pane.
  2. Highlight an entry matching the system preference to be defined; for ease of identification, all preferences are displayed in alphabetical order. Alternatively, type in the first few characters of the system preference name into the dynamic Search Parameter field provided 1.
  3. With the desired system preference in current focus, double-click on the corresponding entry in the adjacent Details tab. The Select Parameter Value window is displayed.
  4. Specify the required system preference value, status attribute, lookup parameter option, threshold limit or permitted response text, as appropriate, in accordance with the underlying data type.
  5. Click on Save. The newly-applied system preference change is reflected in the summary table.

Note

1 The field will operate as a dynamic search function and match against any element of the system preference description based on the successive characters entered.
