To create a user defined lookup parameter value

Parent Previous Next

The procedure to create a user defined lookup parameter value is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > System > Configuration > User Defined Lookup Type. The Lookup Type Details window is displayed.
  2. Select a lookup type from the alphabetical list or type its name into the Search Lookup Type field. By default the list is filtered to show Current lookup types. An alternative filter can be applied using the Filter by drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations 1.
  3. Click on New Lookup. The Lookup Details window is displayed for the selected lookup type.
  4. Enter a Description for the new lookup parameter value into the field provided.
  5. Use the Other reference field to specify the logical or preferred name for the user defined lookup parameter value i.e. the name by which the lookup value is more commonly known.
  6. Use the Additional analysis field to further characterise the nature of the user defined lookup parameter value.
  7. Using the Display order field, enter a numeric value to specify the position of the lookup value within the drop-down field 2.
  8. Choose an Effective from date for this lookup value i.e. the date on which it came into effect 3.
  9. Choose an Effective to date if the lookup value needs to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the lookup value will never expire.
  10. Click on Save. The new user defined lookup parameter value is displayed in the Lookups summary table 4.

Note

1 The Search Lookup Type field will match against any element of the user defined lookup type description.

2 Where no Display order value is recorded, an alphabetical sort will be assumed.

3 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.

4 To remove the user defined lookup parameter value, change the Effective to date to be in the past.
