The procedure to create a new question dependency rule within a form template is as follows:
- Navigate to Quick Menu > System > Configuration > Form Template. The Form Template window is displayed.
- Expand a category heading from the alphabetical list and select an associated question form template, or type its name into the Search Templates field. By default the list is filtered to show Current question form templates. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations
1.
- Click on Rules. The Rules tab is activated.
- Click on New Rule. The Rule Setup window is displayed.
- Enter a Name for the new rule into the field provided.
- Choose an Effective from date for this question form template rule i.e. the date on which it came into effect
2.
- Choose an Effective to date if the question form template rule is to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the rule will be continually valid.
- Using the Question Name drop-down field, select a question from the form template that will be used to define the rule
3.
- Complete all desired response attributes associated with the selected question. The displayed attributes are specific to the Response Data Type linked to the question - Date Only, Date Time, Decimal, Integer, Lookup (Address, Contact, Contact Group, Table, Standard or System), Text, Time Only, True or False, User Defined Field Lookup, or Functional Unit.. An explanation of each common attribute is summarised in the table below.
- Click on Add. The question dependency rule is displayed in the summary table.
- Repeat steps 8 through 10 to add further question dependency rules to the form template.
- Click on Next. The Rule Setup window is displayed.
- Using the Mandatory Section, Mandatory Group and Mandatory Question drop-down fields, optionally select a form section, group or question that will become mandatory if the combined conditions are met.
- Using the Show Page, Show Section and Show Group drop-down fields, optionally select a form page, section or group that will only be displayed if the combined conditions are met.
- Click on Confirm. The new conditional rule is displayed in the Template rules summary table.
- Click on Save.
Note
1 The Search Templates field will match against any element of the question form template name.
2 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.
3 Only questions already added to the form template will be available for selection.
