To create a new question via a form group

The procedure to create a new question via a form group is as follows:

1. Navigate to Quick Menu > System > Configuration > Form Template. The Form Template window is displayed.
2. Expand a category heading from the alphabetical list and select an associated question form template, or type its name into the Search Templates field. By default the list is filtered to show Current question form templates. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations 1.
3. Click on Page Setup. The Page Setup tab is activated.
4. Select the desired question form page, containing the group from which a new question will be created, using the drop-down field.
5. Locate the specific horizontal bar matching the form-specific group from which a new question will be created  i.e. one not already available within the library 2.
6. Click on Add Question. The Question Library window is displayed.
7. Click on New Question to define the attributes of a completely unique question, as required. This procedural step is covered separately in the topic To create a new entry in the question library. Once complete, the new question is added to the library and available for subsequent inclusion in form templates; proceed to step 9.
8. Alternatively, click on Clone Question to create a new question using common attributes obtained from one already in existence. This procedural step is covered separately in the topic To clone an entry in the question library.
9. Select the Form Template tile (if not already selected). The Question Library window is displayed.
10. Select the newly-added question from the alphabetical list, ordered by category; use the refresh icon () to ensure the list displays all available questions. The attributes of the selected question - Question Text, Information Text, Help Text, Linked Object, Multiples, etc. - are displayed for identification purposes.
11. Click on Confirm. The new library question appears in the layout as an indented horizontal bar, underneath the associated group.
12. Click on Save 3.

Note

1 The Search Templates field will match against any element of the question form template name.

2 It is only permitted to create new questions within a form-specific group i.e. library groups are fixed and no further questions can be inserted.

3 To amend the details of an existing question, double-click on the associated horizontal bar to reveal the Question Element window; any applied changes to the Information Text, Help Text, Verification Type or Mandatory status fields will be limited to the current form only i.e. the source library question will be unaffected.
