As the variations in required task paths may be only minimal, it is possible to clone an existing version within the same definition, retaining all the attributes and configuration settings for the underlying workflow structure, and apply the relevant changes to the new copy, thus saving time and effort. The new clone is then maintained as a separate 'draft' version and can be refined in isolation using the available task path building blocks without compromising the live environment. Of particular benefit is the ability to reinstate the operational behaviour of a previous version, as a means of rectifying subsequent changes that are no longer valid.
The procedure to clone a task path workflow structure is as follows:
Note
1 The Search Task Paths field will match against any element of the task path definition description.
2 This option is only activated in the instance where the selected task path workflow variant has expired i.e. the Effective to date is in the past.
3 System validation rules ensure that the description entered for each task path workflow variant is unique for the effective period.
4 Where a draft variant already exists, the end user is asked to affirm its replacement with the new cloned copy.
5 The cloned variant of the task path workflow structure must first be selected via the Version drop-down field.
