The procedure to clone a standard template is as follows:
- Navigate to Quick Menu > Communication Engine > Communication > Standard Communication. The Standard Communication Maintenance window is displayed.
- Expand a company heading from the alphabetical list and select an associated standard template, or type its name into the Search Standard Templates field. By default the list is filtered to show Current templates. An alternative filter can be applied using the Filter by drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations

- Click on Clone. The Standard Communication Maintenance window is populated with all the attributes of the source template.
- Using the Company drop-down field, ensure that the selected parameter values are still valid for this standard template and apply any required changes.
- Enter the Template Name for the new copy into the field provided

- Using the Communication Method drop-down field, ensure that the selected output channel is still valid for this standard template and apply any required change.
- Amend the Effective from date for this standard template, as required i.e. the date on which the template came into effect

- Amend the Effective to date for this standard template, as required i.e. to specify the valid duration; a blank field means the template will never expire.
- Click on Save. The standard template clone is displayed in the alphabetical list, underneath each associated company.
Tip
1 To aid in identification purposes, it is good practice to devise and uphold a consistent naming convention for all standard templates.
Note
1 The Search Standard Templates field will match against any element of the template name.
2 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.
