Each registered user of Civica Cx Housing must login with a unique user name and password. When a new user is created on the system, a temporary password is defined for them. To preserve the integrity of each user account, a new user is prompted to change this password upon first login. It is a system requirement that passwords be a mixture of upper case and lower case letters, contain at least one number and also at least one special character. Adherence to additional complexity rules can also be enforced through activation of the system preference 'password must meet complexity requirements', triggering further robust validation protocols: (1) the proposed password falls below the minimum number of characters; (2) the proposed password has already been used previously; (3) the proposed password comprises the end user's account name. During the routine administration of all user accounts registered within Civica Cx Housing, a number of scenarios need to be accommodated and are therefore managed in a controlled way through targeted functionality:
To uphold full system security, robust SALT cryptography is employed for all password encryption and authentication processes.
