To define the attributes of an asset type

The procedure to define the attributes of an asset type is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > System > Entity Configuration > Asset Types. The Asset Type Details window is displayed.
  2. Click on New Asset Type. All fields are activated ready for data entry.
  3. Enter a Description of the asset type into the field provided e.g. House, Flat, Bungalow, etc. 1.
  4. Where asset records of this type are Lettable, activate the tick box provided.
  5. Using the Parent asset type drop-down field, select a parameter value to denote the logical parent for the asset type. For example, an asset type of 'flat' may logically be linked to a parent asset type of 'block'.
  6. Where asset records of this type are Residential (e.g. a flat, a bungalow, a house), activate the tick box provided.
  7. Click on Save 2.


Note

1 System validation rules ensure that the description entered for each new asset type is unique.

2 To amend the details of an existing asset type, select an entry from the alphabetical list (or type the name into the Search Asset Type field) and repeat steps 3 through 7.
