To define the action path for a resource plan

Parent Previous Next

The procedure to define the action path for a resource plan is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > System > Configuration > Action Plans. The Action Plans window is displayed.
  2. Expand a resource type from the alphabetical list and select an associated action plan, or type the name into the Search Action Plans field. By default the list is filtered to show Current action plans. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations 1.
  3. Click on Path. The Path tab is activated.
  4. Click on New Action 2. The Path Action window is displayed.
  5. Using the Action drop-down field, select an action linked to the resource plan for inclusion in the critical path 3.
  6. Use the Days field to enter the number of elapsed days during which the action should be completed (an integer value).
  7. Using the Start Rule drop-down field, select the desired trigger point for the action i.e. Count Back from Void Start Date, Plan Start Date or Void Start Date 4. An explanation of the functionality delivered through each trigger point is captured in the table below.
  8. Alternatively, using the Predecessors drop-down field, multi-select all prerequisite actions that must be completed, or choose the All option, as required 5 1 .
  9. Use the Lag field to enter the number of elapsed days before which the next action in the path can commence.
  10. If, on successful completion of the action, the associated resource is available for Repairs, activate the tick box provided.
  11. If, on successful completion of the action, the associated resource is available to Market, activate the tick box provided.
  12. If, on successful completion of the action, the associated resource is available to Shortlist, activate the tick box provided 6.
  13. If an extension to the target completion time is permitted for this action, activate the Extend tick box provided.
  14. Choose an Effective from date for this additional action i.e. the date on which it came into effect within the critical path 7.
  15. Choose an Effective to date if the action's inclusion is to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the action will be continually valid.
  16. Click on Confirm. The action is displayed in the Action Path summary table.
  17. Repeat steps 4 through 16 to add further actions to the plan.
  18. Click on Save 8.

Tip

1 Where only a small number of parameter values are not required, activate the All tick box first and then deselect individual items from the full list, as appropriate; the All tick box will be automatically removed once an item is deselected.

Note

1 The Search Action Plans field will match against any element of the action plan description.

2 The definition of an action plan path is at the discretion of the user; where no path exists, the end user can simply add actions manually to the selected plan for the specific resource.

3 Only actions added to the resource plan will be available for inclusion in the critical path.

4 These event triggers are only relevant to action plans configured for the management of assets.

5 The selection fields Start Rule and Predecessors are mutually exclusive and therefore cannot coexist when steering the progression of an action.

6 The default status for the Repairs, Market and Shortlist attributes are transferred from the resource action record.

7 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.

8 The total number of days for all actions included in the critical path must not exceed the SLA days value defined within the action plan.

Event Trigger

Description

Count Back from Void Start Date

The commencement date for the new action will be derived from the void episode start date, using a custom countback integer (calculated in days).

Plan Start Date

The start date for the new action will match the execution of the asset void plan, typically triggered from the notice received date.

Void Start Date

The start date for the new action will match the commencement of the asset void episode.
