The procedure to define a unit of measurement conversion rule is as follows:
- Navigate to Quick Menu > Materials > Configuration > UoM Conversions. The UoM Conversion window is displayed.
- Click on Add New. The UoM Conversion window is displayed.
- Using the From UoM drop-down field, select the desired parameter value to capture the source unit of measurement e.g. Box (100), Packet (50), Reel (100m), etc.
1.
- Enter a Short description for the source unit of measurement into the field provided.
- Using the To UoM drop-down field, select the desired parameter value to capture the target unit of measurement e.g. Box (25), Each, Linear Metre, etc.
- Enter the Conversion factor into the field provided i.e. a decimal value used as the translation multiplier between the 'source' and 'target' units of measurement
2.
- Using the Companies drop-down field, multi-select all companies relevant to this unit of measurement conversion rule, or choose the All option, as required
1.
- Choose an Effective from date for this unit of measurement conversion rule i.e. the date on which it came into effect
3.
- Choose an Effective to date if the unit of measurement conversion rule is to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the specific translation factor will remain in perpetuity.
- Click on Save. The new entry is displayed in the Unit of Measure Conversions grid.
Tip
1 Where only a small number of parameter values are not required, activate the All tick box first and then deselect individual items from the full list, as appropriate; the All tick box will be automatically removed once an item is deselected.
Note
1 These custom values can be populated by the end user via the system parameter entitled Unit of Measure.
2 A conversion factor of 0.25 would be used in the instance where, say, a box containing 100 items needed to be translated down to 25.
3 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.
