The procedure to add a cost element to a service charge calculation scenario is as follows:
- Navigate to Quick Menu > Service Charges > Management > Calculations. The Service Charge Calculation window is displayed.
- Expand a calculation type subheading from within the nested calendar period and select an associated calculation scenario, or enter its name into the Search Calculations field. By default the list is filtered to show All calculation scenarios. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: In Progress, Under Consultation, Applied, Invoiced, Cancelled or Adjustment Applied to Rent Accounts

- Click on Cost Elements. The Cost Elements tab is activated.
- Click on New Cost Element. The Calculation Cost Element window is displayed.
- Using the Cost centre drop-down field, multi-select the desired parameter values from which the subset of potential cost elements will be compiled, or choose the All option, as required

- Using the Cost element drop-down field, multi-select the desired service charge elemental components to be included in the calculation scenario, or choose the All option, as required

- Click on Save
3. The end user is asked to affirm the inclusion of any cost elements that are already employed in calculations of the same type and for the same period; the selected service charge components are displayed in the Cost Elements summary table.
- Repeat steps 4 through 7 to include further cost elements in the service charge calculation scenario.
Tip
1 Where only a small number of parameter values are not required, activate the All tick box first and then de-select individual items from the full list, as appropriate; the All tick box will be automatically removed once an item is de-selected.
Note
1 The Search Calculations field will match against any element of the calculation scenario description.
2 Only cost elements linked to any of the chosen cost centres will be available for selection.
3 System validation rules ensure that only cost elements linked to service charge groups can be included in the calculation scenario.
