To create a new functional unit classification

Parent Previous Next

The ability to create functional unit classifications provides a means of assigning any number of custom labels to individual functional unit definitions. Once assigned, these labels can be used for extended reporting and analysis purposes.

The procedure to create a new functional unit classification is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > System > Configuration > Functional Unit Classification. The Functional Unit Classification Configuration window is displayed.
  2. Click on New Classification. All fields are activated ready for data entry 1.
  3. Enter a Classification name into the field provided i.e. the custom label syntax 2.
  4. Use the Description field to add contextual information in support of the functional unit classification.
  5. Where the functional unit classification is reserved for a specific modular operation, select the relevant module from the Applicable to drop-down field.
  6. Using the Company drop-down field, multi-select all companies for which this functional unit classification is relevant, or choose the All option, as required 1.
  7. Choose an Effective from date for this functional unit classification i.e. the date on which it came into effect 3.
  8. Choose an Effective to date if the functional unit classification is to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the classification label will be continually valid.
  9. Click on Save 4.

Tip

1 Where only a small number of parameter values are not required, activate the All tick box first and then de-select individual items from the full list, as appropriate; the All tick box will be automatically removed once an item is de-selected.

Note

1 Upon first access, all fields are automatically activated ready for data entry; hence the New Classification button is inactive.

2 System validation rules ensure that the name entered for each functional unit classification is unique for the effective period.

3 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.

4 To amend the details of an existing parameter, select a functional unit classification from the alphabetical list or type its name into the Search Classifications field. By default the list is filtered to show Current functional unit classifications. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All combinations.
