To clone a CRM script definition

Parent Previous Next

By far the most time-consuming element of creating a CRM script definition is in the planning and construction of the workflow path. Once a path is finalised for a script definition, it is very easy to make a copy, ready to deploy for similar scenarios and customer contact points, using the clone function.

The procedure to clone a CRM script definition is as follows:

  1. Navigate to Quick Menu > CRM > Configuration > Script Definition. The CRM Script Definition Configuration window is displayed.
  2. Expand a script type heading from the alphabetical list and select an associated CRM script definition to be cloned, or type its name into the Search Script Definition field. By default the list is filtered to show Current definitions. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All 1.
  3. Click on Clone Script Definition. The CRM Script Definition Configuration window is populated with all the attributes of the source definition 2.
  4. Enter a Description for the cloned CRM script definition into the field provided. By default, the source definition description is displayed with an additional suffix of '1'  1.
  5. Amend the Pre-Script Text, as required, to reflect the purpose of the cloned CRM script definition 3.
  6. Using the Companies drop-down field, ensure that the selected companies are still valid for this cloned CRM script definition.
  7. Amend the Effective from date for this CRM script definition, as required i.e. the date on which it came into effect 4.
  8. Amend the Effective to date if the CRM script definition status is to be reviewed on a specific date or to capture a change of circumstances; a blank field means the definition will be continually valid.
  9. Click on Save. The cloned CRM script definition appears in the alphabetical list, underneath the associated script type 5.

Tip

1 To aid in identification and extended searching opportunities, it is good practice to devise and uphold a consistent naming convention for all CRM script definitions.

Note

1 The Search Script Definition field will match against any element of the description.

2 The Script Type and Entity Type fields, where relevant, are inextricably linked to the script definition and cannot be changed.

3 This field is only activated where a script type of Pre-Script is linked to the source definition.

4 The Effective from date defaults to the current system date and cannot be left blank.

5 To amend the details of an existing CRM script definition, expand the script type heading and select an associated definition (or enter its name into the Search Script Definition field) and repeat steps 4 through 9. By default the list is filtered to show Current CRM script definitions. An alternative filter can be applied using the Select view drop-down field: Expired, Future or All. Only a limited number of fields can be updated once a record has been created.
