Once a repair request has been raised, an inspection can be created to enable an inspector (or contractor) to visit the asset to review the extent of the repairs and to inform the tasks required in the resulting work order. Most commonly, an inspection is required for repairs of a complex nature, that cannot easily be diagnosed over the telephone. An inspection can be created manually as a 'follow-on' from the initial repair request; it can also be triggered automatically by the system when defined inspection rules are fulfilled. These rules can be defined in any combination of the contract, the trades involved, the repair types, the order value and cost variation, or integral within the work order tasks.
Inspections are typically grouped into three main categories:
Automatic inspection rules work in conjunction with Pre Inspections and Post Inspections only, and will be applied once the associated order has reached a certain status. In addition, SOR tasks contained within the order may also trigger an automatic Pre Inspection. Irrespective of origin, once an automatic inspection is created the end user is able to book an appointment for an inspector to visit the asset.
The progression of an inspection is tracked by a manually updated status indicator, with the permitted values automatically filtered based on the previous selection, and controlled by predefined progression stages as described in the table below.
